 Dobrcz commune is situated in the north -eastern part of the district of Bydgoszcz and inhabited by 9209 of people concentraced in 21 rural communes. Dobrcz is a farming commune and its total area excedes 13 thousand ha, including about 1 thousand ha of forestland. Agriculture is the most important field of economy based on over 800 individual farms.The major grupu is constitued by big farms - over 10 ha. In majority the soil conditions allow for cultivation of croop plants and pototes which determines the focus of production, that is plant production providing feeds for the development of animal breeding. An important element of the infrastructure is deep water intakes, which enables to supply water to 1200 recipments by means of a 218,78 kilometre water main. Its location on an important north-south transport route , the neighbourhoog of aan urban area as well as the prospective plan of development of agriturism, form favourable and adwantageous conditions for futher development of Dobrcz commune. Comunication The railway line and main Bydgoszcz - Gdańsk and the railway route connecting Bydgoszcz with cities situated on the Gdańsk Coast pass through the area of the commune. Adminstrator of a group of villages: Krzysztof Szala History First records of Dobrcz come from 1213 when the bishop of Cracow , Iwan Odrowąż , handed over his family estate to the Cistersian monastery in Sulejów. Later on , Dobrcz became the property Cistersian order in Byszewo. The area of the commune and the vincinity of Strzelce Dolne can be associated with Dutch settlement of the mid-16th century. It contributed to the development of technical knowledge with respect to melioration and recovery of wet cropland. During the Prussian annexation, Dobrcz and its vincinity became the place where the policy of Germanisation was impemented. Due to this fact, the most affluent regions in Włóki an borówno passed to Germans. After Poland regained its independence , Dobrcz was incorporated into the rural commune Bydgoszcz II in 1928 and in 1933 Dobrcz commune was established. Rhe remnants of Hitler's occupation and terror are places sanctified with Polish blood such ass the cementery in Borówno with about one thousand of victims. The monument of Heroes , erected in Włóki in 1947, is a tribute to Polish soldiers killed in 1939 and buried here in a collective grave. In the history of the commune , the village of Gądecz deserves some attention since John Hewelius - a famous 17th century astronomer from Gdańsk - was staying here. Monuments Among local monuments the following are worth seeing: -in Dobrcz the Churcg of St. Wawrzyniec, built in the mid 19 th century and rebuilt after the fire at the end of the 19 th century - in Włóki, St. Mary Magdalen's Church , built of wood towards the end of the 17 th century. Within Dobrcz commune the antique palaces are worth seeing: the palace in: - in Gąecz from the mid-19 century with a horse-chestnut avenue presently housing the State House of Social Welfare for Adults - the mansion in Trzęsacz with a laandscaape park , picturesquq viev on aa steep slope descemding towards the Vistula - the manor in Kotomierz built aafter 1850 with a new wing annexed towards the end of the 19 th century , situated in a park next to farm buildings - the 19 th century mansion complex with a brick mansion complex with a brick mansion building in Strzelce Górne where a primary school is situated at the moment. Natural amenities The picturesque roads leading through the area of commune: the road from Bydgoszcz to Świecie , in the vincinity of Borówno with a roadside alley character, composed of about 250 trees including 240 oaks; roadside alley Kotomierz - Sienno with over 270 trees including 260 oaks; the road nera Strzelce Dolne where a beautiful viev on an extensive proglacial valley of the Vistula spreads out.
